Hillbilly Elegy Author Coming Home

By now, many of us are familiar with J.D. Vance’s book Hillbilly Elegy, which thrust Middletown into the national spotlight in recent months. It painted us in a false light: economically unstable, low work ethic, etc. and drove us to prove even further that Middletown is on the rise, with 23 new businesses opening in the downtown district alone in 2016.

We’re delighted to read that not only has Vance chosen to return home to Ohio, but he cites Middletown’s own Ami Vitori as one of the reasons why: Ami is the force behind the purchase and renovation of the TV Middletown building in the heart of the downtown district, now known as Haven Yoga Studio, MC Hair Salon, Gracie’s restaurant, and more. The Torchlight Pass building is now one more of the staples in Downtown Middletown that demonstrate that Middletown is on the rise, and that 2017 is shaping up to look just as successful as 2016 was for us – if not even more successful.
